Hot Jobs That No One Thinks About!

Exploring or re-planning your future? Talking to your middle school students about their future career paths?  The Career Engineer is here to share some wonderful and often “overlooked” career opportunities that “that NO ONE thinks about.” Several of these positions require only an Associate Degree or specialized training, provide a great income and quality of life and predicted to have better than average career growth.   • Working for Uncle Sam: Lots of para-professional – PhD career opportunities with our Uncle SAM (yes he hiring.) FTE positions offer great benefits, stability, upward mobility, amazing career paths, training and more. Check out www.USAjobs.gov
  • Air Traffic Controller: Air traffic controllers coordinate the movement of air traffic to ensure that aircraft stay safe distances apart. Requires an (Associates Degree): Salary of $122K per year $58.91 per hour (High Stress Job). Learn about Air Traffic Controllers here 
  • Funeral Director: Associates degree (Mortician Science) and state licensure required. But the opportunity to make very good living is solid. $51.6K (On Average) as a W2 employee (a lot more as a business owner). More on Funeral Service occupations here
  • Medical Equipment Repairers: Medical equipment repairers install, maintain, and repair patient care equipment. Requires an (Associates Degree): Average Salary $44.5K, $21 per hour (as a W2). Learn about medical equipment repair here

  • Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Technicians:Assist scientists, technologists, or related professionals in building, maintaining, modifying, or using geographic information systems (GIS) databases.
