LinkedIn 101: Just Because You Have ACCESS…Doesn’t Mean That You are INVITED

http://LinkedIN.com

One of the BEST Connection spaces on the Internet!

TCE has to Vent Within My Social Tent:  Just a LinkedIn “Pull Up” to the members who PAY for the service.  Just because you have ACCESS…doesn’t mean that you are INVITED.  No one wants an inbox (LinkedIn or Otherwise) filled with sales pitches or buy me now…when there is absolutely no relationships or attempt to create one.  I enjoy focused and purpose driven REALationship networking (That’s TCE trademarked folks).  You create stronger bridges when you reach out with authenticity, value and being yourself vs a sales pitch artist.  You humble TCE,  had to share….as I think it needed to be said.  Of course your comments are welcomed and encouraged!  Below are a couple of  TCE Boosters for ANY Social Media Community where you are trying to buzz your brand for Career, Life or Business results!

Social Media Etiquette for Your Career or Business

The Career Engineer

Just like any other career or business environment, the social media space has norms, behaviors and a culture (especially for employees and biz owners).  Violation or refusal to “get with the program” MAY affect your ability to build critical relationships in your career & business.  Yes, your online reputation and actions can create AWESOME deals…or move you BACK into the unemployment or bread lines.   The Career Engineer is here to share her Social Media “Go or No Go” relationship tips to help you change the game!

Tag or NOT to Tag…That is the Question!

  • Unsure?  ASK …BEFORE you tag someone (very irritating)
  • Make sure the person is “a part” the content
  • BEST ways to destroy a potential relationship online and offline!

KNOW the Rules of Engagement!   (Group 101)

  • Ask the creator about group norms/culture (or read/comprehend group info)
  • Relational vs. Pitch groups (knowing  the difference is powerful)
  • Read profiles, Google folks…BEFORE You Reach Out (time and sanity saver)

HOW You Share vs. What You Share !

  • Social media spamming (folks will RUN from you)
  • Overkill of ambiguous posts that don’t fit a conversation (Big biz killer)
  • Walls/update areas are precious, don’t post unless you have permission

Graduating but STILL Under-employed or Unemployed?

college

Don’t Get Anxious – Get Prepared!  Let’s get you HIRED! The Career Engineer is here to share some TCE career hunt boosters (for the college student or graduate) so that YOU can land the job of your dreams or at least get a paycheck!  At the time of this post, our national unemployment rate is a low 5.5% with 8M people looking for employment (March 2015, Source DOL ).  Keeping politics aside, these numbers are significantly lower than when President Obama started his first term.  So keep your head up, things are looking pretty good for our college students and future graduates.  Remember, those student loans that have your “John or Jane Hancock”…will be ready for your first payment six months after you graduate.  So, let’s shift gears and get to work.
