Is your Career/Biz Brand JACKED or MASTERED? Do You Know the Difference?

So…is your career or business execution plan to be the Jack of All Trades?  Be careful, you may end up becoming  the Master of None!   Welcome to the online/offline marketplace and the days of hyper-competition, fake relationships, hustlers/scammers, content stealers, back stabbers and more.  Sometimes being “Jack” versus “Master” is nothing more than a 21st century distraction that has many of us confused that ACTIVITY and ACCOMPLISHMENTS…are the same thing. They are not, in fact the “busy without a REAL plan or REAL purpose mindset” is something the Jack’s keep doing but produces ZERO product, passion or positioning.

News Alert — The REAL customer (W2 and 1099 funders) are yearning for “Your Main Thang” (yes I said Thang!)  So, what is your…”main thang?”  That is the product or service that produces results, revenue and what we call TCE REAlationship.  Now here’s where it gets tricky.  In today’s  world the BIG fix is on uber fast technology, follow me now, like me quick and click now/read later…a bill of goods sold strongly to “Jon and Jane citizen.”  However, the REAL secret is, “slow and steady wins the race…not the other way around!”

Here are some great folks ( I know and admire) who have left the JACK alone, and allowed their MASTER Brand shine.  Check them Out! NikkiWoodsRichard Branson Corey BookerRussell Wilson Michelle Obama and Randi Zuckerburg

I know, you are shocked that I just said “slow and steady” as much as I LOVE the speed of technology and social connecting.   But I also embrace natural balance, if there is High Tech there must be High Touch.  Your REAL MAIN THANG must showcase class and precision while embedding within your brand…genuineness, authenticity, originality, integrity, performance, talent, skill and human-to-human technology.   Never the quick, fast and “in a hurry” approach that we see ALL DAY LONG with our quick clicks, pressed posts, “uh oh” uploads and cute comments (unless you are slowing down to proof read your vetted content :).

Here are a couple of TCE PushUps that work for me (and our clients) to know the difference between being a MASTER versus being JACKED!:

  • Decide WHO Your Are BEFORE Deciding WHAT You Will Do
  • You Can’t SELL, What You Don’t KNOW
  • Believe NOTHING That’s Said, Believe EVERYTHING That’s Done
  • SELL Your MESSAGE, Not Your PRODUCT
  • Know Your COMPETITIVE Edge, DELIVER more than PROMISED
  • REALationships Build Revenue (that’s a TCE terms folks)

“Where we Build REALationships” Join TCE Career & Biz Network Today

Yes, this is a throttle back coming from your Career Engineer a Social Technology Queen who adores the speed and power of cyberspace.  Nevertheless, I have always been a champion and more concerned with your “perfected space and stamina” in the marketplace, than the clicks it took for you to get there.  I am not talking about a return to the snail pace (1990’s or anything, heck no)….but I am promoting  the slow down or “back it up a bit”  of putting your Jack out there as “fast and furious.”   Instead try being The Master of your brand…at the speed of  “accurate, efficient and effective.   Show the marketplace that you are the MASTER of that…and they will love you for it!

LinkedIn 101: Just Because You Have ACCESS…Doesn’t Mean That You are INVITED

http://LinkedIN.com

One of the BEST Connection spaces on the Internet!

TCE has to Vent Within My Social Tent:  Just a LinkedIn “Pull Up” to the members who PAY for the service.  Just because you have ACCESS…doesn’t mean that you are INVITED.  No one wants an inbox (LinkedIn or Otherwise) filled with sales pitches or buy me now…when there is absolutely no relationships or attempt to create one.  I enjoy focused and purpose driven REALationship networking (That’s TCE trademarked folks).  You create stronger bridges when you reach out with authenticity, value and being yourself vs a sales pitch artist.  You humble TCE,  had to share….as I think it needed to be said.  Of course your comments are welcomed and encouraged!  Below are a couple of  TCE Boosters for ANY Social Media Community where you are trying to buzz your brand for Career, Life or Business results!

Social Media Etiquette for Your Career or Business

The Career Engineer

Just like any other career or business environment, the social media space has norms, behaviors and a culture (especially for employees and biz owners).  Violation or refusal to “get with the program” MAY affect your ability to build critical relationships in your career & business.  Yes, your online reputation and actions can create AWESOME deals…or move you BACK into the unemployment or bread lines.   The Career Engineer is here to share her Social Media “Go or No Go” relationship tips to help you change the game!

Tag or NOT to Tag…That is the Question!

  • Unsure?  ASK …BEFORE you tag someone (very irritating)
  • Make sure the person is “a part” the content
  • BEST ways to destroy a potential relationship online and offline!

KNOW the Rules of Engagement!   (Group 101)

  • Ask the creator about group norms/culture (or read/comprehend group info)
  • Relational vs. Pitch groups (knowing  the difference is powerful)
  • Read profiles, Google folks…BEFORE You Reach Out (time and sanity saver)

HOW You Share vs. What You Share !

  • Social media spamming (folks will RUN from you)
  • Overkill of ambiguous posts that don’t fit a conversation (Big biz killer)
  • Walls/update areas are precious, don’t post unless you have permission

TCE Top 5 Networking Disasters a “TCE Tough Love” Segment

Your Career Engineer was on TV today sharing some Networking blunders that can keep ALL OF US, in the “I have no money and I am broke” line.  You know that I don’t want that to happen, so here is the segment from today’s show that  describes those “Networking Disaster Personas.”   Make sure that YOU are not one of…THEM!  I also have a YouTube video, How to Network Like a Rock Star, check it out that shares a bit more of this TCE style.  Plus in my youtube video I look directly into the camera…I am not a fan of profile views…YUK!

  • The STALKER:  You want THAT Connection & think you are ENTITLED too it…BUT stop “following” the “A Gamers” around…It’s very irritating and does more HARM than good!   TCE Tip: Stop it!
  • The BUSTER:  You see a conversation and just BUST into it without a tasteful and tactful entrance!  You are now…toast!  TCE Tip:  It’s called impulse control!
  • THE KIDNAPPER:  Stop holding one-person hostage all night, they are there to meet OTHER people!  Monopoly is a board game you play with your family…does not work at networking events. .  TCE Tip:  It’s OK to Let them Go…
  • The FAKER:  Stop using champagne words with an orange juice brand!   Who are you trying to impress…the AIR?   Pretending to be a PERFORMER is a dangerous move.  TCE Tip:  There is a true value…. in being REAL!
  • LIFE STORY TELLER: Not interested in your activities since birth (Over share warning).  Find your 60-second introduction, followed by an up to 5 min performance/tactful chat.  If you don’t have one…Go home or…get coached by TCE!

The Journey is More Important Than the Destination

The Career Engineer

The BEST is YET To Come!  (Remembering Bishop William D. Scott Today)

TCE “hum…”Moment:  So…I had a moment of reflection this afternoon and became a bit overwhelmed with gratitude/appreciation for everything I/we have experienced since we started The Career Engineer TCE.  Of course,  if you are a techie addict like me, when you get these feelings and you have a MacBook Pro, you start playing with your limited creativity and this powerful graphic computer.  As I was “thinking and playing with creativity”  I remember something that Bishop Scott (My pastor who left this world to soon a few months ago) said to me about all the @$#!%  (that’s my language upgrade,  not his) I experienced in 2013.

Gone But Not Forgotten, Bishop William D. Scott

You remember 2013…it was full of  sequestration, shutdown, fiscal cliff drama, lame duck congress,  contract losses,  job losses, losing loved ones…it was a tough time.  But before Bishop left this earth he would say “over and over” again to the congregation…and a few days before his death my last words from him was “Francina — You Ain’t SEEN Nothing Yet, The BEST is YET To Come!’ So enjoy this “very fast pace – 45 second” reflection of some of the GREAT places and spaces that my GOD has allowed this “average girl who does not know how to quit” to experience.  Sometimes it’s good to reflect on where you started…and what’ you’ve been through;  as the journey can be more important than the destination (another wisdom note from Bishop Scott).  Oh …and we are NOT done yet! Because My BEST is STILL…Coming!

TCE Career Super Bowl 2014: Are You In It to Win It?

The Big Game this year showcases a showdown between extreme experience (Old Lion – Manning) versus a fresh new perspective (New Lion – Wilson).  Both candidates’ aka NFL teams want the job (the Super Bowl Ring); but the REAL question is…who has what it takes to win it!  What has more value …experience or performance (or are both equally important?)

The same can be true in our careers, at the end of the day, the Super Bowl and Your Job Search will always comes down to who wants it more…and who SELLS it BEST. So The Career Engineer says to the TEAM that wants to win…Let’s Go Get It!   (PushUp to TCE VA Member “Ms. Lady V” who helped me…with this SuperBowl content!)

Here’s How You Win The 2014 Big Career Game…TCE Style!

  • Decide That You are Playing to WIN!  Positive mindset is essential (Think and Act like a Winner). “As a Job Seeker Thinks…so He/She is”
  • Block & Tackle:  Have REAL answers for the TOUGH questions. (Know Your Barriers to Employment or do you have FEAR of Success).
  • Don’t Fumble:  Practice & Plan (You’ MUST have a Game Plan…always; even if the response is NO!)
  • When Someone Throws You the Ball…Catch It!  Focused Action, Focused A-Game, and a Powerful Follow-up …  can WIN the game!
  • Ready to FIND another Team?    Use the TCEJobStop (One of the BEST Career Search Niche Boards!)
